Ramadan

O believers! Fasting is prescribed for you—as it was for those before you1—so perhaps you will become mindful of Allah.

[2:183]

Fast a prescribed number of days.1 But whoever of you is ill or on a journey, then let them fast an equal number of days after Ramaḍân. For those who can only fast with extreme difficulty, compensation can be made by feeding a needy person for every day not fasted. But whoever volunteers to give more, it is better for them. And to fast is better for you, if only you knew.

[2:184}

Ramadan begins this week Alhamdulillah.

This month is famous for the following things:

  • Forgiveness of your sins: Your sins are the hurdles between you and Allah’s blessings. Ramadan is the month when you can seek Allah’s forgiveness, so your sins are forgiven. Allah blesses you and your family. If you really seek forgiveness with a will that you will not commit that sin again, then Allah will surely forgive you no matter how big your sin is.

  • Heaven gates are being opened: In Ramadan, the gates of heaven are opened, meaning, that in this month Allah doubles the reward of your good deeds. So the more good you do, the closer you'll get to Jannah!

  • Gates of Hell gets closed: In this month, Shaytaan (the devil, satan) is locked in a cage. The closing of the Gates of Hell means that no matter how big your sin is, Allah will forgive it.

  • Shaytaan is chained up: It makes it easier for people to get closer to the Almighty Allah.

  • Laylat al-Qadr: It is the night when the first verses of Quran were revealed to our Prophet ﷺ and it comes in the last ten days of Ramadan.

Here is a beautiful dua to recite before Ramdan :

Wassalaam,
